Marietta City Schools (MCS) Superintendent, Dr. Emily Lembeck is among four finalists named by the Georgia School Superintendents Association (GSSA) for 2011 Superintendent of the Year. Marietta Reads!, the Marietta City Schools citywide effort to foster reading and literacy in the community, celebrates its eighth-year anniversary on Saturday, September 25, 2010 in Glover Park on Marietta Square from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Marietta Sixth Grade Academy (MSGA) renovation project is now complete. This SPLOST3 project allocated approximately $6.9 million to improve MSGA, and the results are outstanding. The project was executed in two phases: Phase 1 (June – Sept. 2009), Phase 2 (Mar. – July 2010).

Improvements: Remodeled gym and art areas (band room extended), updated ceilings, energy efficient lighting (automatically shuts off), new flooring (porcelain tile and carpet), renovated courtyards (poured with aggregate concrete), new HVAC systems, enhanced media center, expanded science labs, classroom upgrades, keyless entry system with video surveillance, roofing, painting, and replacement of electrical systems.
