Open to all MSGA students, Band inspires students to learn, develop, and discover through music and to instill a lifelong understanding and appreciation for quality music and character.
Band is open to all students entering MSGA. The purpose of all MSGA Band classes is to provide students with a substantial music education and musical skills to progress toward achieving the goals required of beginning band literature. The classroom structure will provide daily engagement to help students achieve the goals and standards set forth by the National Standards of Music and the Georgia Performance Standards for the Arts in Instrumental Music - Band.
Mr. Robert 'Isaac' Brantley joined the Marietta Sixth Grade Academy as the Band Director in 2026. He believes music has the power to positively influence young lives by fostering creativity, confidence, discipline, and a sense of belonging. As a student, music opened doors he never imagined possible, and he is passionate about providing those same opportunities for every student who enters his classroom.
Mr. Brantley earned his Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Florida in 2017. While at UF, he performed with the Gator Marching Band for three years and served as Trumpet Section Leader for two seasons. He is an active member of the Georgia Music Education Association (GMEA), the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), and the Gator Band Alumni Association.
Before joining MSGA, Mr. Brantley spent seven years as the Band and Choir Director at Osceola Middle School in Ocala, Florida. During that time, he grew the band program by 300% through creative recruitment efforts and built a program focused on musical excellence, student leadership, and a welcoming classroom community. His students consistently earned superior ratings at district performance assessments and Solo & Ensemble events, with many selected for All-County, All-District, and All-State ensembles. Most recently, he served as Co-Choir Director at Dodgen Middle School in Cobb County, where he worked with more than 350 students while helping continue the school's tradition of choral excellence.
As the Band Director at MSGA, Mr. Brantley is excited to introduce students to the joy of making music and help them build a strong foundation as young musicians. He believes every student can be successful with encouragement, hard work, and a positive learning environment. His goal is for students to leave band not only as better musicians, but also with greater confidence, perseverance, and a lifelong appreciation for music.
